ELIZABETHTOWN, Ky.- 227 7th Regiment Advanced Camp (CLC) Alpha, Bravo and Charlie company Cadets attend the Commitment and Army Profession Seminar (CAPS) at Elizabethtown Community and Technical College (ECTC) on July 28.
The purpose of CAPS is to educate Cadets on the possible careers they can choose from within the Army and to inspire them to be leaders. Before the guest speaker arrived, a video briefing the various careers available within the Army was shown, informing the Cadets of their options: ranging everywhere from Communications to Transportation to Artillery.
Guest speaker 25th Commanding General of the U.S Army Recruiting Command Maj. General Jeffery Snow was the focal point of the CAPS seminar. He discussed his experience after decades of serving the Army and gave the Cadets important advice. His speech included major key points such as balance, trust, leadership and positivity.
Maj. General Snow assured the Cadets that the thought, “should I stay in the military?” crosses everyone’s mind, including his. However, every man and woman in the Army has a purpose and the benefits of a career within the military outshines any doubt.
One portion of his speech that stuck with Cadets was his view on balance.
“Take care of yourself. Eat well, sleep often and take care of your mental health—find your balance,” said Maj. General Snow.
Cdt. Sarah Magee explains what she got out of his speech.
“He was invested in being balanced. He cares about finding the balance between family and leading a platoon. He cares,” said Magee.
